Innovation
Hands On Central Texas/United Way Capital Area (Austin, TX): Will engage Hispanic/Latino and African American populations in creating change in their neighborhoods, specifically with a community engagement/volunteerism assessment, signature projects around Education & Financial Stability & capacity building through skill & leadership development
Volunteer Macon (Macon, GA): Will expand the Neighboring Initiative, which includes youth programs, financial asset development, emergency preparedness, Avon breast health education survivors program, and Days of service to the Pleasant Hill Community
FirstLink (Columbus, OH): Will foster a community driven movement that aligns with HandsOn Schools Target Library Project by creating an ongoing service group for kinship teens
Volunteer Services of Manatee County (Bradenton, FL): Will empower young people as the motivators, facilitators, coordinators, and collaborators in their own neighborhoods to address that community's individual needs
Capacity
Roger Hill Volunteer Center (Lawrence, KS): Will enable the Roger Hill Volunteer Center and the Lawrence Youth Ensemble to developing Home on the Road, the first program in an ongoing effort to create plays that celebrate community, strengthen family life, and encourage good Neighboring practices
The Resource Center (Flint, MI): Will establish a satellite office, which will focus on providing information and referral, volunteer recruitment services and after-school programming to the neighbors and members of Salem Lutheran Church, located on Flint's near north side
Metro Volunteers (Denver, CO): Will celebrate Neighboring that may not be organized but deserves to be recognized; determine from the residents the needs of the community; and engage residents as change agents through formal and informal volunteering
Volunteer Center of Lehigh Valley (Bethlehem, PA): Will provide marginalized Allentown residents with opportunities to participate in a variety of trainings and provide the tools needed to become engaged members of the community
Start-Up
Volunteer Lake (Tavares, FL): Will organize community leadership within isolated communities that can further service projects and create a centralized gathering place for those serving their community
Prince George's Volunteer Center (Hyattsville, MD): Will ensure the emergency preparedness of low-income communities in Prince George's County, working with the community CERT team to educate their neighbors, participate in drills and exercises, and help inform future trainings and education offerings
Volunteer Center of Clallam County (Port Angeles, WA): Will support a collaborative project between the volunteer center, Clallam AC, and the United Way of Clallam in an attempt to raise the startlingly low graduation rate of Port Angeles High School students through increased volunteer service. The project creates a varsity-lettering program in volunteer service
Volunteer Center of Lewis, Mason & Thurston Counties (Olympia, WA): Will bring understanding of the conditions that contribute to community engagement among the Hispanic population and through training, publications, and collaboration to educate nonprofit organizations, schools and families
Serve Wyoming (Casper, WY): Will bring together marginalized citizens of Goshen County in an effort to increase the number of local people entering the Torrington workforce and volunteer service by identifying, recruiting, and retaining 'hidden' volunteers
