Lynne Durham
Vice President, Communications

Lynne Durham, vice president, Communications, is responsible for overall Foundation messaging and positioning and leading the development of the Foundation's "super brand" under the Volunteer Center Affiliation Agreement.

Before joining the Points of Light Foundation staff team, Lynne worked for 12 years at Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC), where she was responsible for outsourcing Communications for the America's Outsourcing Group. She began her career at the mid-sized PR/public interest firm, David Apter Associates and later ran her own PR/Communications firm. Lynne holds a B.A. degree in Literature from The Ohio State University.

Lynne's greatest professional accomplishment to date is assuming leadership of the communications department at CSC and transforming their work into a repeatable, sustainable process that became recognized as an industry best practice.

Born in South Dakota, Lynne moved to Oregon and then Ohio, where she attended high school and college. She has lived in Arlington, Va., for the past twenty years! Her hobbies include traveling, particularly to Paris and Iceland, and reading. Her favorite author is the Canadian writer, Roberston Davies. A little known fact about Lynne is that she still has a passion for punk music - one of her favorite artists is David Bowie.

Nina Langlie
Manager, Youth and Family Outreach

Youth and Family Outreach Manager Nina Langlie primarily manages the Youth Ready to Respond program, including managing and monitoring sub-grantees, overseeing development publications and coordinating technical assistance calls. She also manages the Points of Light Youth Leadership Institute (PYLI) program and provides support to other youth and family outreach activities.

Since graduating from American University with a B.A. degree in International Relations, Nina worked on a youth education project at the National Alliance to End Homelessness, a camp/retreat program at Lutheran Social Services of the National Capital Area, and most recently was the Program Director at Public Allies DC. She also volunteered extensively at local nonprofits, and was a member of the inaugural class of AmeriCorps*NCCC.

Nina's greatest professional accomplishment is that she has always loved her jobs and been proud of her work. She is most proud of developing and implementing an arts-based retreat program for local youth living with HIV and AIDS.

Originally from Wisconsin, Nina currently lives in Mt. Pleasant, D.C. and has been in the area since 1991. She loves to sing, hike, camp, cook, bake, watch movies, and hang out with her friends and family (especially her niece and nephew). Many people don't know that Nina is passionate about travel and plans to visit every continent within the next 10 years.

Beth Ludlum
Program Associate, Volunteer Center Development

Beth Ludlum is the newest face in the Volunteer Center Development area. She is responsible for all aspects of Volunteer Center start-up and development activities. Before coming to the Points of Light Foundation, Beth worked as an intern for U.S. Senator Pat Roberts (R-KS). Her background also includes teaching English in China for a year with a Christian organization and majoring in Agriculture Communications at Kansas State University, a natural outgrowth of her involvement with 4-H, the National FFA Organization, and the agriculture industry.

Beth spent her childhood on a farm near Uniontown, Kan. A farm girl at heart, though she currently lives in Arlington, Va., Beth still enjoys the outdoor activities such as running, hiking, playing basketball, gardening, and working with animals. She also enjoys reading, cooking, playing the guitar and piano, and learning to play the violin (much to her roommates' chagrin!) Also, be forewarned - mentioning agriculture, college football, immigrants, or Asia to Beth may spark hours of conversation.

When asked about her greatest professional accomplishment to date, Beth replied, "Great is such a deceiving word." Her most important work has been teaching English as a Second Language last year in China and this year at her church. She has also been involved in the work of the church and in mentoring young women for several years.

    Timothy S. McLaughlin
Vice President, Corporate Volunteer Development

Tim McLaughlin, vice president, Corporate Volunteer Development, oversees the Foundation's work in helping companies develop and manage effective employee volunteer programs. In this position, Tim leads the Foundation's work in the business market by directing the Foundation's business training curriculum, partnerships and product development, annual Awards for Excellence program and business member services. Tim and his colleagues in Corporate Volunteer Development focus their efforts on the business market to promote and establish the value and benefits of effective workplace volunteer programs.

Previously, Tim served as vice president, Corporate and Community Affairs, for Wilmington Trust a regional bank and national wealth management company headquartered in Wilmington, Delaware. He was responsible for managing the company's philanthropy program, which included workplace volunteering and multi-sector relationships. His background in community affairs, sales and marketing and also his engagement on several nonprofit boards, including serving as Vice-Chairperson for the Delaware Commission for Community Service, brings significant expertise, skills, and knowledge to our team.

Director of Federal Government and Foundation Relations

A graduate of Harvard and Yale Universities, Peter Wolf recently joined the Foundation as director of Federal Government and Foundation Relations. He works with Joe Theissen to develop funding opportunities with federal agencies and private foundations.

After fourteen years as a faculty member of the music departments in four universities (North Carolina State, SUNY/Stony Brook, The University of Utah, and Rutgers University/New Brunswick) and four years as Production Manager and editor for a scholarly music publisher, Peter began non-profit fund raising in 1989. However, he cites becoming a first-rate classroom teacher as his greatest professional accomplishment.

Peter has a great love for music, particularly playing the harpsichord. Of his New York debut in 1975, the reviewer for The New York Times wrote, "The harpsichord can seem a genteel instrument, but Peter Wolf's debut recital at Carnegie Recital Hall was about as thrilling as gentility can be. With this performance Mr. Wolf established himself as one of the finest harpsichordists before the public today."

Peter is married to Rachel Doggett, Andrew Mellon Curator of Books and Exhibitions at the Folger Shakespeare Library. He and Rachel breed and show champion Cardigan Welsh Corgis. As a volunteer, he is in his fourth term as treasurer of the Chesapeake Cardigan Welsh Corgi Club.
