Foundation Achieves Funding Success in FY06

By Dianna Campbell

The 2006 fiscal year had many successes for the programs and initiatives of the Points of Light Foundation & Volunteer Center National Network. Our corporate and Foundation partners embraced our work and stood beside us financially to create a strong fundraising year, including Disney, Annie E. Casey Foundation, United Peace Federation (UPF), Polo Ralph Lauren Foundation, Thomas Kinkade Company, UPS and Capital One.

During our National Conference on Volunteering and Service, Disney offered a jaw-dropping $2 million gift to benefit 340 Volunteer Centers. In addition, Disney also pledged $450,000 over a three-year period and became the exclusive sponsor of Family Volunteer Day.

Cause-marketing remains strong at the Foundation with the Polo Ralph Lauren Foundation’s “G.I.V.E” campaign and the Thomas Kinkade Company’s “Time and Talent” tour. These two partnerships yielded almost $250,000 in unrestricted funds and $180,000 in Katrina relief funding. The United Peace Federation continued their second part of their $1 million pledge for work in disaster and faith initiatives. Annie E. Casey supported the Foundation’s “Neighboring” program with $250,000.

A new partner, Capital One, has taken the lead in supporting our Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) initiative with $250,000. UPS continues to be a highly valued funder and partner through their longstanding financial commitment in support of our work across various programs of the Foundation and Network.

We commend our sponsors’ continued commitment to the Points of Light Foundation & Volunteer Center National Network.
