Join us for Faith and Neighborhood Partnerships Day, an invigorating day of cutting-edge experiences that will spark new ideas and ways to support community needs across the country through collaborations between faith groups and secular agencies!
Now in its seventh year, the Annual Faith and Neighborhood Partnerships Day is a fixture of the National Conference on Volunteering and Service. More people deliver more civic engagement through their house of worship than through any other institution, and the day is designed to bring together the best and most innovative new thinking and action from around the country from among faith-based communities.
This year we are very proud to have Rev. Joshua DuBois, President Obama’s new Assistant to the President and Executive Director of the White House Office of Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships, as our keynote. He will discuss how the Obama Administration sees the path for faith. The day always begins with an open and inclusive interfaith prayer breakfast bringing together many faiths. After the breakfast, innovative workshops will be offered, such as “The Rise of the International Agenda,” and “The Violence-free movement in Chicago.”
The day will also include a hands-on session that offers a mix of programming from one of San Francisco’s most significant community sites – Glide Memorial United Methodist Church. Attendees will take a deep look at their programs and mission, then tour the lively but challenging Tenderloin District of San Francisco. Faith and Neighborhood Partnerships Day will also include a screening of a film that explores how the struggle to build a mosque in a neighborhood united a community.
Those who attend will walk away with materials to use and implement what they learned from the day at home.
