Callahan Fore is extremely passionate about service to his community. In 2006, Callahan created a non-profit organization, SweatMonkey, that focuses on community service resources for students, organizations, and teachers.
SweatMonkey.org is a free website that builds connections that benefit everyone—youth, teachers, schools—without wasting a single sheet of paper.
As a user-friendly, free internet resource that connects students with organizations, SweatMonkey helps students and teachers track their hours and generate community service resumes.
Under Callahan’s leadership, SweatMonkey has impacted nearly 5,500 student members throughout Florida, who have logged more than 290,000 hours with 1,950 non-profit organizations and employers.
Callahan believes that “when empowered to serve the community, youth can embody Gandhi's philosophy to be the change they wish to see in the world.”
SweatMonkey has grown to serve many communities, including the University of Florida and Florida State University.
Currently, the Florida Department of Education encourages all On the Job Training (OJT) Programs at high schools to use SweatMonkey as the one-stop technology for opportunities, requirements, reporting, and tracking.
SweatMonkey also is partnering with Florida Campus Compact in an effort to implement a pilot project that aims toincrease faculty and student participation in service learning activities at 12 prominent universities in Florida.
With the potential to serve more members, Callahan intends to expand SweatMonkey to serve students, organizations, and teachers throughout the United States.
