October 31st is not only a fun holiday where kids dress like monsters and gather as much candy as possible while trick-or-treating door-to-door, it can also be a great day to do social good.  For over 60 years UNICEF, has helped raise more than $164 million dollars with its iconic orange boxes carried by Halloween Trick-or-Treaters.

The money collected for UNICEF is used for the welfare of children all over the world.  It is a global movement of kids helping kids. Want to join in this awesome effort? You can raise money for children in need - order your UNICEF collection box online or by phone at 1-800-FOR-KIDS.

If you are not planning on Trick-or-Treating this year you also have the opportunity to raise funds digitally.   The UNICEF web portal hosts Heidi Klume's Digital Costume Party — a web app that lets do-gooders upload photos of themselves to try on virtual costumes and share them over social networks while donating to a cause.

The iconic orange box is also going digital thanks to the inclusion of a Microsoft Tag code. People can donate by scanning the code, just like a QR code with their smartphone or text TOT to “UNICEF” (864233).

You can also participate on Facebook and Trick-or-Treat online by creating your own Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF fundraising page. Post the link to your Facebook profile or email friends and family to make a donation to your fundraiser web page.

This year you can teach your kids to be socially aware while celebrating this spooky holiday. Have a happy halloween!
