Thanksgiving MealHappy Thanksgiving!

In today’s society, Thanksgiving is about family traditions and preparing and eating a meal with turkey and various delicious fall colored side dishes.  No matter where you are today, sharing this time with family, friends, loved ones, neighbors, let’s all be thankful for what we have this holiday season.

The holiday is not only about family togetherness, but it is a very charity-filled day.  The day of Thanksgiving is often seen as a day to share with the less fortunate with definite Philanthropic ties. An integral part of Thanksgiving is not just expressing gratitude through words or apple pie, but through generosity.  This thanksgiving volunteer your time, voice, or money and give the gift of your service.

Volunteering on ThanksgivingCheck out the HandsOn Blog for 10 Creative Ideas to Put the Giving Back Into Thanksgiving. There are many volunteering options available for all ages for you to partake in with your family.

Want to teach this charitable attitude to your students or youth in your life? Help youth reflect on what they are thankful for and as a starting idea, "pay it forward" to those who are less fortunate through a collection campaign for food, coats, or other needed items.

What charitable actions are you a part of this holiday season?
