Dr. Eboo Patel Discusses The Importance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day
Dr. Martin Luther King Day is this upcoming Monday, January 16. On this day of service millions of Americans honor MLK’s vision of a beloved community. Dr. Eboo Patel, founder and president of the Interfaith Youth Core and a scheduled speaker at our National Conference of Volunteering and Service this year, was interviewed Monday morning on WABE News discussing the importance of Dr. Martin Luther King Day.
He highlights MLK Day as an important moment in time to focus on service and the ways people can come together to build a stronger, more interconnected society. He focuses specifically on the nation’s diverse religious groups and the importance of collaboration between all communities.
Dr. Eboo describes the power of service – especially among young people – to bridge cultural and religious divides and facilitate change. He mentions HandsOn Network and our CEO, Michelle Nunn as a leader in providing service opportunities that celebrate Dr. King’s vision – everyone can be great because everyone can serve.
