Being Human to Our Fellow Humans

Todays' post is written by Paul Taylor. Paul and his wife, Julie, both spend quite a bit of time coming up with ideas, blogging and researching all things related to childcare. They take care of all the necessary information related to babysittingjobs.com/. He personally thinks his blog will help with finding information on all things related to a babysitter.
There are times when I think to myself that the world is just too crazy for its own good. The rudeness and impatience that people show each other sickens me at times. We are supposed to be the most advanced species on the planet, yet we can't take care of ourselves or each other without someone asking how much it is going to cost. It shouldn't be that way. We should want to help members of our community flourish. We shouldn't look at the homeless vet on the corner and try to figure out how to capitalize on his misfortune. I've seen many forms of charitable acts by people and it doesn't take much to help those in need.
1. Food drives – As a way of giving back to our community, the business that I was CEO of donated a lot of food to the local radio station, which was organizing a food drive. I figured that the business should give to the community to enforce that it cares about its neighbors and is not just a faceless corporation looking to make a buck. At home, we do the same by donating food to the organizations that are holding the drive. I was once on the receiving end of charity, and want to put back what was given to my family.
2. Funds donated - Every year, you see those who stand outside the grocery store ringing the bell for donations. Although the pocket change donated by those passing by can go a long way, organization goals could be achieved quicker if we could sacrifice just $5 per week to a nonprofit we believe in. In 2006, there were more than 152 million working adults over the age of 16 in the United States. Could you imagine if every one of those working individuals donated just $5 per paycheck to any organization? Even if it was just once a year, three-quarters of a billion dollars could go a long way.
3. Time - Personally, I donate my time as a graphic/web designer to a local charity that helps those in need here in the United States and in other countries. Many of us will donate time to a charity to help them succeed. Whether it is washing dishes, serving food or setting up PayPal donations on a website, volunteering your time can make a profound impact on your community.
4. Gifts - Although the holidays shouldn't be about presents, many of us get satisfaction from giving gifts to everyone anyway. There are thousands and thousands of families that go without gifts every year and it can cause severe depression in a parent who can't afford clothing for a child. As I was in that situation recently, I made a vow that it would never happen again. I donate presents every year to needy families in the hope that I can prevent the pain I went through in my own situation.
It's a great feeling when you help someone who's in need. To know that your contribution can change the way a person or family will function can make you want to do it more. Involve yourself today in the improvement of someone's life by visiting sites like: Charity.org, Hope-link.org, or VolunteeringInAmerica.gov. It doesn't take much to change someone’s life for the better. It only takes your willingness to sacrifice time to do it.
