In São Paulo, Brazil, André Cervi – cofounder of our affiliate Atados – is inspired by individuals and nonprofits that continually innovate to achieve greater impact in their communities. Atados connects people who want to volunteer in social and environmental causes to nonprofits who need their help.
In Paris, France, Stéphanie Andrieux – founder and president of our affiliate Benenova – is motivated by people. Inspired by her experience as a volunteer and board member of HandsOn Bay Area, Stéphanie launched Benenova in 2013 with a mission to make it easier for citizens to take action to change the world around them.
Picture a student in science class, seated at a desk, her computer on. The student isn’t writing a paper about her studies or reading class materials, according to Akash Patel. She is interacting with students halfway around the world in Australia, touring their classroom, hearing about what their science quiz will cover that week. The child, from her desk in America’s heartland, is experiencing a world she may never get to travel to – but because of the World Experiences Foundation, she’s learning from it.
The high rates of violence in Central America have caused many citizens, including youth, to flee their countries in search of a better life elsewhere. The result has been a greater push by social organizations in these countries and bordering nations to support youth and, ideally, equip them to spark change and improve their communities – rather than leave them. Glasswing International is one such organization.
