Position Overview

Points of Light is looking for a strong, flexible, and highly organized program manager to support the organization’s emergency preparedness programming. The ideal candidate will have experience managing projects and programs for nonprofits in the disaster preparedness arena. The Program Manager will be responsible for managing partner relations to scale local emergency preparedness volunteer projects and programming nationally across all business units. This position requires schedule flexibility in order to address potential issues in real time. The Program Manager will report directly to the Program Director. Position is located in Atlanta, Georgia.


  • Manage partner relationships related to the Emergency Preparedness Programming

  • Complete all reporting for National grants related to Emergency Preparedness Programming

  • Deliver annual Disaster Training for Hands On Network (HON) affiliates (all logistics, coordination, budget management etc.)

  • Work with vendor to update Points of Lights Disaster Services online presence on a regular basis and during times of disaster

  • Work with Marketing and Communications team to develop annual plan for Emergency Preparedness Programs

  • Manage all sub-grants to partners and affiliates in partnership with HON

  • Manage day-to-day operational aspects of program

  • Develop annual goals and execution strategies to meet those goals

  • Assures that deviations from project schedule are addressed and communicated

  • Updating the HON member section with preparedness resources

  • In times of response 25% of time will be dedicated to supporting the Director of Disaster Services with situation reports, and coordination

Required Professional Experience:

  • BA preferred, relevant experience essential.

  • Experience in and understanding of the unique challenges of a nonprofit culture.

  • Experience managing projects with technical and cross functional/departmental components.

  • Excellent customer service skills.

  • Demonstrated experience in conflict resolution, negotiation and persuasion.

  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with all stakeholders and provide superior customer service.

  • Strong organizational, administrative and computer skills (MS Office applications)

  • Strong communication skills—excellent writer, active listener and creative and compelling synthesis skills.

  • Flexibility and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

  • Superior relationship management, organizational skills, ability to multitask and attention to details.

  • Demonstrated ability to work across departments through team building and communication.

  • Commitment to community service while sharing the mission, vision and values of the organization.
