Sample Media Advisory

A media advisory is an urgent, one-page reminder of your upcoming event that is sent out within the final week before the date of your event. If you have a press release out announcing the event, the media advisory should be a brief restatement of the information you included in your press release, and should include specific details on what will happen, the address or location of where it will happen, the schedule, and the speaker list. Call the media outlets after sending the media advisory to make sure they received the advisory, to answer any additional questions, and to see if the outlet is planning to send a reporter. It is advisable to make the calls a day or two prior to the event.
