Faith-based

Welcome

Greetings from the Points of Light Foundation & Volunteer Center National Network!

We hope that you have enjoyed our series of faith and community service workshops, luncheons and Volunteer Center Lounges at this year’s National Conference on Volunteering and Service. Our faith and service theme, Making the Connection, proudly highlights the role Volunteer Centers have in connecting faith-based organizations to meaningful service across the country.

These resources, compiled by the Faith and Service Task Force are designed to:

  • Cultivate an awareness and understanding of the connection between faith and service
  • Provide tools and ideas for reaching faith groups with Volunteer Center services
  • Offer “real life” examples of how Volunteer Centers across the country are collaborating with congregations and faith groups
  • Share resources to support the work of your Volunteer Center

It is our hope that you use this book to inspire and support a growing audience of Volunteers motivated by faith to serve your community.

We want each Volunteer Center to have the resources, training, and strategy to build local Volunteerism through faith-based organizations and congregations.  Volunteer Centers can mobilize even more citizens to improve our communities by working with people of faith.  We hope that you find these resources a valuable start and addition to your workings with faith and service!
