February 2016 Corporate News
Corporate Service Council
On February 22-23, 2016, Points of Light’s Corporate Service Council gathered at CEB in Washington, D.C., for two days of dynamic and engaging conversations and working sessions about the powerful potential of service collaborations to tackle critical community needs. We heard the theme of this year’s meeting, “Scaling Collaborations for Good” emerge in every session of the program. From Deloitte's Bill Eggers sharing the “secret sauce” for solution ecosystems and UN Foundation CEO Kathy Calvin discussing the Sustainable Development Goals, to Josh Wright of Ideas 42 unveiling a science-based approach to influence giving behaviors, we were reminded that partnerships for social impact are becoming more mainstream, innovative and collaborative every day.
Amazing examples of Points of Light were highlighted and continue to inspire us and accelerate social change: people like Daily Point of Light Award honoree Lily Perez, who have launched social enterprises to create opportunity for others, and initiatives like My Brother’s Keeper and Tech Hire, which are scaling multi-sector solutions to connect vulnerable groups at home with the skills and opportunity they need to build a stronger, more vibrant economy.
