Stefanie Weiss is the Chief Communications and Marketing Officer at Points of Light.

A proven leader in nonprofit communications and advocacy journalism, Stefanie most recently worked as vice president for communications at Encore.org, a nonprofit promoting second acts for the greater good. She also served as communications director for Experience Corps, where she helped create a brand known for service with impact on students' reading skills.

An accomplished writer and editor, Stefanie regularly contributes to the Washington Post's Health & Science section, writing on midlife health topics. She also worked as an editor of NEA Today, the National Education Association's magazine with a circulation of 2.5 million. As a staff member at People for the American Way, she co-authored a book, “Protecting the Freedom to Learn.”

Stefanie got an education in leadership while working as communications director for the James MacGregor Burns Academy of Leadership at the University of Maryland. She also handled communications and public relations duties for the United Auto Workers, both in Detroit and during a groundbreaking organizing drive in Ithaca, N.Y.

Stefanie has a degree in English and American studies from Cornell University. She lives with her son in Silver Spring, Md., and works out of our Washington, D.C., office.
