Occasional Volunteers

More and more, people are looking for flexible volunteer opportunities. Finding opportunities for busy people is especially important in tough communities. If your current needs are mainly weekly and ongoing, consider creating opportunities that can be shared among a care team of volunteers.

  • Determine whether you can frame other volunteer positions as episodic activities that can be completed by a group in an evening or on a Saturday afternoon. These episodic opportunities can enhance the important ongoing services of your program while also opening the door to new volunteers.
  • Develop volunteer work that can be completed in volunteers’ homes on their own time—for example, writing a newsletter, scheduling volunteers, developing recruitment pamphlets, or making reassurance calls to care recipients.
