The Board Member of the Month Award honors individuals providing extraordinary board service by advancing the public good and creating meaningful change in communities.
The Board Member of the Month Award was established by Points of Light and BoardSource to recognize individuals serving as board members who go above the call of duty to effectuate change in their organization and community.
Do you know a board member who is advancing the public good through extraordinary board service? Recognize their good work by submitting a nomination for the Board Member of the Month. If selected, your nominee will join an esteemed group of volunteers recognized for their leadership, commitment and impact, and receive a certificate signed by Points of Light CEO Michelle Nunn and BoardSource Interim CEO Anne Wallestad honoring their achievement.
Nominees for the Board Member of the Month Award will be evaluated based on their record of excellence in board leadership, their strong commitment to their organization, and the positive impact their actions have had on advancement of their organization’s mission.
The monthly winner will:
- receive a complimentary registration to the Points of Light’s Conference on Volunteering and Service, the world's largest gathering of volunteer and service leaders from the nonprofit, corporate, and government sectors
- receive a complimentary registration to the BoardSource Leadership Forum, the only national conference that brings together hundreds of nonprofit leaders and experts to focus on the impact of nonprofit boards and the unique role they play in advancing the public good
- gain access to hundreds of resources on nonprofit governance and to a network of more than 24,000 nonprofit leaders through a complimentary BoardSource individual membership for one year
- become candidates for the Board Member of the Year Award, which will be presented at a jointly hosted signature event, beginning in 2013
be publicly recognized for his/her exceptional service on the Points of Light and BoardSource Web sites, in each organization’s newsletters and through various media channels
