Harry Mayo

Daily Point of Light # 5911 Jan 10, 2017

At 92 years of age, Harry Mayo has volunteered in many organizations over the last 40 years. He has raised over $50,000 for the Salvation Army to buy and rig a food truck to provide sustenance to firefighters on the front lines and organized a group of annual donors. After working as a fireman and a fire chief he went on to work on fundraising projects for the Public Service Employees. Perhaps some of his most important work is his collection and preservation of the history of Santa Cruz and Santa Cruz surfing. He is a founder of the Santa Cruz Surfing Club and still volunteers regularly in the community, giving tours of the Surf Museum.
