Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service, 2009

The Points of Light Institute & HandsOn Network, through the generous support of the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS), is pleased to offer MLK Day of Service 2009 Grants to Affiliates (network) and others (non-network).

The subgrants are intended to impact disadvantaged youth by engaging them in service and/or engaging volunteers of all ages in service to impact disadvantaged youth. HandsOn Network will distribute grants to approximately 45 sub-grantees in amounts from $1,000 to $7,000.

In accordance with CNCS requirements, a percentage of these funds will be available to non-network organizations that include, but are not limited to, nonprofit organizations, state service commissions, institutions of higher education, national or regional education agencies, and faith-based institutions.

Applications are due by 5:00 pm local time on Wednesday, October 8, 2008. Applications that arrive after the deadline will not be accepted. Notification of the awards is expected to be announced the week of October 20, 2008 via email.
