MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. DAY OF SERVICE — JANUARY
This day marks the beginning of the year of service as millions of Americans honor the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by volunteering in their communities. HandsOn Network supports this day by creating meaningful projects in the spirit of Dr. King’s work and message. From building homes or delivering meals, to refurbishing schools or participating in town hall meetings or gatherings in coffee shops, we offer opportunities for everyone to continue to build upon the legacy of Dr. King and to create the “beloved community.”
NATIONAL VOLUNTEER WEEK — APRIL
National Volunteer Week, Celebrating People in Action, is a call to action for Americans to volunteer and a week to inspire by example. Created by executive order of President Richard Nixon in 1974, this week signaled a recommitment to creating a culture of service in America. Millions of Americans volunteer this week and demonstrate the positive community impact that engaged individuals, families, businesses and organizations create year-round.
NATIONAL CONFERENCE ON VOLUNTEERING AND SERVICE — JUNE
Co-convened by the Corporation for National and Community Service and Points of Light Institute, the National Conference on Volunteering and Service is the world’s largest gathering of volunteer and service leaders from the nonprofit, government, and corporate sectors. The annual event provides attendees with an opportunity to learn, connect and be inspired through a wide range of exciting and informative plenary sessions, workshops, special events, service projects, exhibits and specialized business tracks.

SEASON OF SERVICE — FALL
September kicks off the Season of Service with service projects throughout the country that demonstrate the power and purpose of corporate civic engagement through volunteer action. Corporations and businesses leverage resources to collectively engage employees, support neighborhoods, inspire other corporate leaders and increase public awareness about the impact of volunteering. While corporate engagement in communities happens year-round, the Season of Service provides alignment with national signature events and an opportunity to showcase the impact of corporate-driven volunteerism.
MAKE A DIFFERENCE DAY — OCTOBER
Make A Difference Day is a celebration of the power of neighbors helping neighbors. Created by USA WEEKEND Magazine, this international day of service is held every year on the fourth Saturday of October. More than three million people volunteer, making a difference in communities around the world.
