If your organization is looking to both post opportunities and recruit volunteers, All For Good will allow us to have a collective portal that is updated 3 times daily. What this requires:
1) Fill out the attached Excel document with your opportunities and information posting_disaster_volunteer_opportunities.xls
To get new Sandy related opps to show up in the top of the search results, this is how they should be entered into AFG:
• Include the keywords “disaster” in the title and description. Putting “hurricane sandy” and “recovery” somewhere in the title or description too would be a good idea
• Opps should not be entered as ongoing. The opps should get entered with the actual start date (something real like 10/27/2012, 11/2/2012, or whenever the opp actually started). Same goes for putting a real end dates for the opps even if the end dates are months from now. AFG shows opps that start and / or end within the next 30 days ahead of opps that are ongoing or start far in the future.
2) Email the excel document to: handsondisasters@handsonetwork.org with “Volunteer Opportunities to Post” in the subject line.
