Taylor Tinsley of Detroit, Michigan is an advocate for child adoption awareness and literacy among today’s youth.
Tinsley founded the Maria Joy Foundation to raises funds and awareness for foster children in southeast Michigan. Through the organization, Tinsley promotes literacy at events and fundraisers. She and her team of volunteers organize reading events as well as provide teddy bear and book packages to foster children. She collaborates with local communities and schools in the Detroit metro area to help further the organization’s initiatives, and participates in annual events such as Global Youth Service Day, National Foster Care month in May, and Child Adoption Awareness month in November.
In January 2013, Tinsley started the organization with little to no funds. She took up extra hours at her jobs to raise enough money to host reading events and fundraisers. She is passionate about child adoption and promoting literacy, and dedicates her time to furthering her cause throughout the community.
