Teresa Creech
Led by Teresa Creech, the Early Learning Partnership operates a free pediatrics clinic for uninsured children who do not qualify for Medicaid. The clinic consists of a core group of pediatricians who have been volunteering once or twice a week for nearly ten years. For the past ten years, the clinic on average gives 2,000 free office visits per a year saving families hundreds of thousands of dollars. Recently, the clinic has expanded to include more doctors and more medical professionals such as dentists who are also volunteers.
Susan Thomas
Susan addresses military needs by building and supporting a collaborative network for our nation’s wounded, ill and injured service members, their families and caregivers through her work with the USO and service with the Points of Light Community Blueprint Advisory Council.
Michael Dakduk
Through Student Veterans of America, Michael addresses military needs by providing a network and support system for student veterans. His dedicated service has made impacts on individual levels, as well as influencing the national infrastructure.
Jayci Derby
Jayci started a local organization called Jayci's Wreaths for Heroes, and raises money to honor more fallen heroes while honoring those who are still serving. During the 2011 Christmas season, 12-year-old Jayci noticed there were not enough people who knew about and understood the need to honor our military heroes. She visited Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery where her grandfather is buried following National Wreath Day 2011, and noticed that very few of the gravesites were adorned with a wreath. Each year, Jayci's goal is to put at least one more wreath on gravesites at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery than the previous year, and to continue to educate and involve young people in this effort so they will see the importance of patriotism, citizenship and respect for our heroes.
Steven Buffone
Steve Buffone serves as the Chairman of the Board of Directors for DoSometing.org, one of the nation’s largest organizations for teens and social change Steve’s commitment to DoSomething.org spans over both the ups and downs. He has been with Do Something since its founding in 1993. He has become the backbone of the organization and a powerful voice of both reason and experience.
Theodore McCombs
Theodore McCombs has been a Board member of the New York City Gay and Lesbian Anti-Violence Project (AVP) since 2009. He is a dedicated ambassador of the organization and one of its most compelling spokespeople.
Nancy Cunning
Nancy Cunning has served on the Tangram Board of Directors since January 2005. During her tenure, she has served as Chair of the Governance Committee, Chair of the Development Committee, a member of the Strategic Advancement Committee, and Board Chair. She has been a key player in advancing Tangram’s mission by involving her company to spread awareness and open more doors for Tangram.
Lois Barber
Each year, Lois Barber hosts a Beautiful Baby Photo Contest as a fundraiser to provide handicap accessible housing to wounded veterans. Barber donates all funds raised to Homes for Our Troops, a Massachusetts-based non-profit organization building specially adapted homes for disabled veterans of war.
Susan Munsey
GenerateHope provides a comprehensive and uniquely designed long-term recovery program for young women who have been trafficked, prostituted, or otherwise sexually exploited. The GenerateHope program provides dedicated housing and recovery, including continued education, job training, life-skills training, individual and group therapy, recreational activities and other support services.
Gretchen Holt Witt
Meet Daily Point of Light Award honoree Gretchen Holt Witt. Read her story, and nominate an outstanding volunteer or family as a Daily Point of Light.
Gretchen, inspired by her son Liam’s battle with cancer, cofounded Cookies for Kids’ Cancer, which is an organization at the heart of a movement to fund new less toxic cancer therapies developed specifically for children. Her non profit is committed to raising funds to support research for new and improved therapies for pediatric cancer, the leading cause of death by disease for children under the age of 18.
