Frontline Families FAQs
Who can serve as a host organization?
Any nonprofit – 501(c)(3) – organization, HandsOn Network affiliate, government/public service organization, and education foundations on a case-by-case basis.
How long is the program?
Full-time AmeriCorps members will serve for 11 months and complete 1,700 hours of service. Half-time AmeriCorps members will serve nine months and complete 900 hours of service.
Where is the program implemented?
Frontline Families is a nationwide program.
When does the program begin?
The program launched in January 2016, Host site applications to participate in the next cohort (Nov 2016) are being accepted til 6/30 and ones received before 5/31 will receive priority consideration and expedited response.
Will there be training directed by Points of Light?
Points of Light will host a Corps Training Institute. All supervisors and AmeriCorps members will attend, as this is a great opportunity to receive a deeper overview of program requirements and meet others who are also participating in the program. Training will be over the course of three days. All travel and accommodations will be covered by Points of Light.
Is there a cost share for AmeriCorps members?
Yes, cost shares are used to supplement the cost of training for each AmeriCorps member. The cost share for full-time members is $1,500. The cost share for half-time members is $750. This is paid one-time, prior to the start of the program.
What are the program activities?
Each AmeriCorps member will:
a) Train 24 family members as volunteer leaders in three separate cohorts
b) Leverage 150 volunteers to support service projects to address a community need
c) Complete a capstone service project engaging all volunteer leaders and the community
