This session presents how 14 communities in California funded by The California Endowment assessed have used a capacity assessment to strengthen their ability to build healthier communities.

Participants will learn the research, development and application processes that helped the foundation and community collaborations develop a targeted and phased capacity building strategy.

This session will describe and explore tools and processes the Social Innovation Fund is using during its first year to validate the impact of SIF funded programs and build a base of evidence about what works.

The workshop format includes:

1) a brief update on SIF’s 11 grantees and first year of implementation;

2) the evaluation technical assistance models that have been used along with tools and guidance that have been developed in consultation with grantees; and

3) a panel discussion with SIF grantees about the processes they have being putting in place to build their evidence base over the next 3 to 5 years.
