Greetings from the Civic Accelerator, a social venture accelerator program focused on early stage "civic ventures" or enterprises that achieve a social mission by engaging people as part of the solution.
Our new year is off to a great start as we wrap up the inaugural cohort of the Civic Accelerator and begin preparations for the second cohort.
In January, our first group of entrepreneurs completed a 12-week accelerator program which included a seed investment of $10,000, boot-camp-style workshops on effective start-up development, week-long gatherings around the U.S., and hands-on mentoring sessions with industry leaders.
The program culminated in a pitch night attended by approximately 200 investors, entrepreneurs, foundations and corporate representatives at the Hub Seattle. In addition, at the end of the program two ventures, Generation Citizen and UBELONG, were selected by
their peers to receive a $50,000 investment each.
We're now accepting applications for a second group of entrepreneurs. The program will kick off this May and early stage for-profits and nonprofits are encouraged to apply.
Does your start-up use innovative models and technologies and engage people to solve a social program? Or do you know one that is? If so, we'd love to hear from you - Apply today!
