Points of Light Announces Launch of All for Good Volunteer, the First-Ever Facebook App for Sharing and Finding Volunteer Opportunities
ATLANTA, June 16, 2014 – At the Conference on Volunteering and Service in Atlanta today, Points of Light announced the launch of its All for Good Volunteer app for Facebook, the first-ever Facebook app for sharing volunteer opportunities.
AllforGood.org, a service of Points of Light, connects volunteers with nonprofit organizations and community organizers that need their skills. Powered by the largest online database of volunteer opportunities, All for Good allows nonprofits and individuals to enter project needs -- and makes it possible for volunteers to search and find service projects that match their skills, interest and schedule. It also allows organizers to search for registered volunteers to recruit those with needed skills.
Nonprofit organizations that post projects through AllforGood.org or one of its partner portals can install the app to get a feed of their volunteer projects on their organization’s Facebook page. Fans of the page can then search for projects that fit what they’re looking for—and, once they sign up, they’ll be able to share the news with their Friends List and encourage others to volunteer with them.
“Volunteering is social,” said Scott Geller, President of Points of Light Digital. “By putting projects right on Facebook, we’re meeting people where they already are, putting important causes on the front page to help volunteers connect to change.”
HandsOn Network volunteer action centers and their partner organizations that currently use the HandsOn Connect volunteer management platform can add the All for Good Facebook app to their Facebook pages to engage their volunteers and their friends through the leading social platform used by over 90 percent of nonprofits and 1.3 billion people worldwide.
There is no cost to post or search for volunteer projects on AllforGood.org. The Facebook app is also free to install and use.
