Points of Light Annual Tribute Awards

October 20, 2016
From the White House more than 25 years ago, President George H. W. Bush gave voice and direction to a movement in America that’s steadily grown ever since — saving and changing countless lives for the better in this country and around the world. No president in American history — in his years in office or throughout the years of his life — has advanced with greater clarity and consistency this belief: that voluntary action to help others is inseparable from human freedom and America’s pursuit of what is right and good. Nor has any president been so unwavering in the belief that any definition of a successful life must include service to others.

Every year, Points of Light honors individuals and organizations whose extraordinary contributions to volunteering and service have made their communities and the world better.

This year, on October 20, 2016 in Washington, D. C., we’ll celebrate the remarkable progress people have made multiplying thousands of points of light into the unmistakable brilliance of today.
