Red White & Babies

Daily Point of Light # 5322 Oct 8, 2014

Raising a military family often means taking care of the homefront while a spouse is deployed on the front lines. And one group is working with expecting military families in South Carolina to offer support as they prepare to welcome babies into the world.

Red White & Babies throws baby showers and provides emotional support for families of deployed soldiers and military families facing hardship. Whether on-post or outside the fence, the message to military moms is clear: you are not alone, and your neighbors are thinking about you.

Started by Melissa Revel, herself an Army wife, this organization brings military spouses and community members together to volunteer their time and gifts to support military families. Participating volunteers are also eligible to take part in the Presidential Volunteer Service Award program, recognizing their great work.

Red White & Babies has helped more than 60 military families within the first year of the upstart program, bringing in more support through local and national sponsors and volunteers.

From sea to shining sea, the dedicated work of volunteers improves our quality of life and makes our communities stronger. Keep the good going by nominating someone who’s making a positive impact where you live. Submit your nomination at http://www.pointsoflight.org/programs/recognition/dpol/nomination
