David Vandenberg
Manager of Corporate Citizenship Volunteer CanadaDavid Vandenberg is the Director of Partnerships & Engagement at Volunteer Canada, where he leads national efforts to grow corporate and non-profit engagement, partnerships, and volunteer infrastructure across the country. He works at the intersection of strategy and implementation, mobilizing organizations, resources, and people to strengthen communities through meaningful volunteerism.
With expertise in nonprofit governance, project management, and stakeholder engagement, David has led national initiatives engaging thousands of employees across Canada. His work focuses on building partnerships that are grounded in real community need, supporting organizations to deliver volunteer programs that are credible, well-designed, and built for impact. He regularly collaborates with government, corporate, and community leaders, providing strategic guidance on community engagement, program design, and social impact.
He is a skilled communicator and public speaker, frequently sharing insights on Canada’s volunteering landscape and the role of volunteerism as essential civic infrastructure. He also serves on the Points of Light Global Affiliate Assembly, contributing to international collaboration and knowledge exchange across a network of global volunteer engagement leaders.
David serves as a director at Halton Women’s Place and is an advisory board member of the Compassion Society of Halton. His contributions have been recognized by the Government of Canada with the King Charles III Coronation Medal and the Platinum Jubilee Medal of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. He was also named a Paul Harris Fellow by Rotary International in 2021.
He holds an Honours BA in Political Science from McMaster University and a Nonprofit Leadership and Management certification from Mohawk College.
