Riakos Adams

Affiliate Assembly Liaison, U.S. Central Region President and CEO, Killeen Volunteers (U.S.)

Riakos L. Adams has been the president and chief executive officer of Killeen Volunteers, Inc. since Nov 2019. He has been recently selected to be the chair for the USA Central Roundtable. He is currently a City Council member in the City of Killeen, Texas, and serves as the deputy assistant state director for the Texas Knights of Pythagoras, chairing their Presidential Volunteer Service Award Program. Riakos has been involved in community service since his youth. He and a group of student leaders planned and conducted City United in his native Washington, DC, which brought together service organizations to conduct service projects across the city. This led to being invited by President George H.W. Bush to participate in planning a National Young Leaders Conference. Riakos is a retired Army officer with 22 years of service. His assignments have taken him around the world. In each of his assignments, he has involved himself in the community, leading and participating in service projects and activities to better the lives of those in need. This has led him to earn the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, among others. Riakos is a Life Member, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., life member of the Military Police Regimental Association, life member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans, member of Toastmasters International, member of Rotary International, founding chair of the Killeen Alphas Education Foundation, member and parliamentarian of the Bell County Child Welfare Board, member of the KISD Educational Foundation Board and past chair of the KISD of the School Health Advisory Council. He has volunteered as Court Appointed Special Advocate, volunteers as a mentor at the KISD alternative school and has served on committees addressing human trafficking and child protection. Riakos is an active Prince Hall Mason and National Sojourner. Riakos has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of the District of Columbia, a Master in Business Management and Organizational Security from Websters University and is pursuing a PhD in Human Services at the University of Arizona Global Campus. He is a graduate of the Defense Language Institute (Spanish) and the Command and General Staff College (Core).
