More Than 1,000 Social Impact Leaders Gather to Ignite Collective Action to Bring Volunteer Impact to Communities Around the World
Points of Light’s Conference delivered innovative solutions so every person, community and society can experience the impact and value of volunteering.

As communities and nonprofits throughout the country and world continue to navigate resource challenges and ever-evolving landscapes, more than 1,000 social impact professionals—from nonprofit leaders, volunteer managers, corporate social impact professionals and more—gathered June 3–6 at the Points of Light Conference, the annual global gathering dedicated to volunteering and civic engagement.
Nonprofits around the world are managing complex challenges. With national volunteer rates remaining stagnant for nearly three decades, and 73% of Americans saying polarization is negatively affecting our communities, the conversation around bringing the positive benefits of volunteering to individuals, communities and society was a main focus of keynotes, workshops and discussions.
“This is more than a conference—it’s a movement,” said Jennifer Sirangelo, president & CEO of Points of Light. “We saw more than 1,000 purpose-driven professionals not only learning and connecting but mobilizing ideas into action that will ripple through communities around the world.”
The conference marked a transformative moment for the social impact sector—delivering actionable insights, energizing collaborations, and celebrating the unstoppable power of individuals and institutions to drive meaningful change.
Key highlights included:
- Announcement of a shared goal of doubling the rate of volunteering through the U.S. by 2035.
- Interactive Workshops and Learning Labs on topics such as volunteering as a powerful tool for increasing mental wellbeing, community-led service, the power of employee volunteering and engaging the next generation of volunteers.
- The Civic 50® Honoree announcement, celebrating the most community-minded companies in America and a benchmark report sharing best practices to engage employee volunteers.
- Networking and collaborations among volunteer-mobilizers including nonprofits, government and corporate attendees, paving the way for joint impact initiatives.
For many attendees, the conference served as a catalyst to recommit to the values of empathy, equity, and community empowerment.
Next year’s Points of Light Conference will be held in Washington, D.C., June 22–25, 2026. To learn more, visit www.pointsoflight.org/conference.
