Chief Financial and Administrative Officer Points of Light

An experienced and trusted executive with industry and advisory credentials, Bart Snell is the chief finance and administrative officer at Points of Light. He is committed to improving the quality of people’s daily lives. As a nonprofit financial executive, he supports and leads transformational initiatives to ensure donor and partner contributions provide maximum value to communities and individuals. Bart brings over two decades of successful financial and operational executive leadership experience, turning data into actionable intelligence as he partners with teams to improve business performance, gain strategic partner interest, secure project financing, and instill world-class financial controls.

He joined Points of Light in September 2023 as interim CFO and became full-time CFAO in January 2024. Bart works closely with the CEO, COO and the executive team to build consensus around a healthy strategic financial model and the supporting implementation plans. Prior to Points of Light, he was the chief administrative officer and CFO for Food Allergy Research and Education (FARE), a nonprofit focused on the daily needs of over 33 million Americans with deadly food allergies. Bart also worked in the private sector, and he held chief operating officer and chief financial officer responsibilities in public, emerging-growth and international companies. Bart led organizations in the U.S. and with international assignments. He has fond memories of living in Australia, and the many weeks he also spent in India. He is a noted fund-raiser and financial engineer with extensive and varied debt and equity financing, as well as all aspects of M&A, including post-transaction integration.

Bart earned his undergraduate Commerce degree specializing in Accounting at the University of Virginia. He attended the University of Texas where he earned an MBA with a major in Finance and a minor in Banking. He served as the co-chair of the Washington Chamber Symphony and was a member of the Northern Virginia Roundtable. He lives in Northern Virginia, is a proud father of three adult children who are ‘off the payroll’, and is a passionate UVA Wahoo. He was recently recognized by DCA Live as a 2022 Nonprofit CFO Star.
